Silhouetted against a rich, copper sky, a graceful tree stretches it's branches towards the heavens.

Trees are shaped by the sun, water, wind and humans and continue to emit oxygen despite how the elements and we have shaped them. They serve as a metaphor for life; establishing  stabilizing roots while growing, branching out and always striving upward.

This tree tile is entirely composed of post consumer paper and fabric. Handmade paper is created and pressed to form the base tile. Pictures of real trees, superimposed on fabric, are then cut out limb by limb. The trees are glued on to the paper surface and coated with several layers of paint and sealers. The final touch is "floating" the tree inside a rough cut recycled lumber frame.
